Hiccups

As I write this post about a few hiccups I am suffering from the hiccups! Fortunately Wikipedia was able to provide a method for relieving them that I hadn’t tried before and they seem to have abated.

I’ve had a few hiccups organising the new space but that may change soon, until then I am able to meet with people in my home or at local cafes. The new website also hit a slight delay as unexpected business trips have delayed the launch.

I’m hoping to confirm my attendance at a few events in the upcoming weeks, I’m just waiting for the planets to align.

I’m working on some ideas for daily prompts and affirmations for journalers, travellers and day dreamers so Stay Tuned!

Milestones

At this time of year my circle of friends experience quite a few Birthdays and Anniversaries. To me these things are very important milestones, to others in my life they could pass unremarked and they would feel no loss. I spent today reflecting on why these things are so important to me.

A good portion of my childhood was spent shuffling back and forth between foster care, grandparents and my mother, this disjointed experience led to special days often being forgotten and disregarded. Also at points in my childhood I found myself just existing, living day to day, and every day I managed to keep existing was a triumph. Now in my adult life I am able to properly celebrate these milestones of birthdays and anniversaries, I find myself trying to make up for the ones that were missed. And not just my personal birthdays, I love to go out of my way to make the birthdays of the ones I hold dear, special and memorable.

I realise that I use these special days to celebrate the fact that I made it through the trials of my childhood and am now able to share these moments with the people I love. I value the mechanism of the anniversary as a marker, a reminder and a moment to celebrate why these people are so precious to me.

What do anniversaries and birthdays mean to you?

Blessings,

Janice Marie

This week I found myself pestered by my guides to ‘get myself out there’ and look at readings in a public venue. One venue came to mind immediately but I let my head take over  (silly me) and went about it logically canvassing venues on a slightly ambling route between my day job and home. Of course this put the intial venue and the end of my route.

Generally the universe likes to give you a bit of a kick in the pants when you ignore your instincts so the first place I went it was hard work explaining to the publican why they might want to try this, in hindsight, completely wrong type of place, thank you universe for making that perfectly clear. As I moved further on my route it got easier, people were more receptive, interested and curious about the concept of a tarot reader in a bar. Finally I arrived at my instinctual target and I had barely gotten through my spiel when the publican dashes off to check a board, comes back and says, “Tomorrow, 6.30 to 8.30, Friday 6.30 to 7.30”. Fortunately I managed to restrain myself from responding with “huh?”.

The night arrived and I hadn’t even finished setting up when the first client came to my table, a beautiful spirit and a true seeker, she set the tone for the evening – depth and clarity.

My cards had so much to say to everyone and my guides… well let me just tell you they weren’t there just for decoration. Master Li had colours for empowering everyone, yellows and oranges and a warning of navy for one client. My body was responding to each client, I felt their blockages and they seemed amazed and moved when I shared my feelings with them.

Lots of cards were given out and I hope that I hear the further adventures of some of the stories and lives we were able to share.

Both nights ended up running to three hours each, there were tears, laughter, loves, and a healthy dose of empowerment. So if you’d like to join me at the British Crown Hotel in Collingwood stay tuned.

I also met a few people who were quite caught up in the ‘Myths” about tarot, I’ll share some of these myths and some links to great discussions of them very soon.

Have a beautiful day,

Janice-Marie

PS. there’s a new website in the works, I just have to re-write my content!

Writing things down is one of the most valuable tools we have for obtaining clarity and removing attachments  from our spirit that have not business being there in the first place.

Every day we carry with us the things that others say or do, our own insecurities, societies ‘rules’, and the countless to-do lists of our lives. If clearing meditations don’t succeed at removing these attachments then we should turn to something more tangible to help us clear our heads and hearts.

You can begin as simply as writing down the things you don’t need to hold onto.

  • I don’t need to hold onto L’s anger from today, my path is not hers and  I must move forward.
  • I don’t need to worry about being to fat or too thin as long as I am healthy and feeling good then my body is good enough for me.

Then feed your soul by sharing the things that you were blessed by today. I like to thank my guides for their work in my life, you may just write how you felt blessed, or write thank you’s to the gods, whatever feels right for you.

  • Thank you for sending me such a helpful shop assistant. Her knowledge and interest in my work were a blessing.
  • Thank you for giving me the courage to share what I do with others. Giving me faith in my abilities and the courage and will to share them has been a revelation.

Now take a moment to re-capture the feeling of one of those blessing moments from your day. Feel it warm you, feel the joy tingle all over your body. Pull that joy into your heart and feel refreshed.

If you like you can now ask your guides or gods for their help with things that you would like to manifest the next day. Don’t be afraid to ask for physical things, your guides are willing and able to help you get to the place you need to be to receive material items.

  • I would really like to feel energised tomorrow, please show me the way to energising my body and mind so that tomorrow is a productive day full of learning and achievement.
  • I am looking for the perfect table for my reading room, please place me in the position to find this table, keep in mind I have a budget sol lets not break the bank!

In my experience it is good to be specific with your guides but I have found that it is always nice to end any conversation with them with a general request. to paraphrase Sonia Choquette.

I am open to your divine wisdom and guidance. Surprise me! Surprise me! Surprise me!

Let me know how these tips work for you in your journaling experiences.

Bright regards,

Janice Marie

News

Hello again all,

I must say I have had an eventful few weeks. I have been working with my own visualisations and affirmations to create a space where I will be able to offer you readings in a private, professional setting and I am happy to report that I will soon be taking readings Wednesday evenings, Thursday evenings and Saturdays at a wonderful little hairdresser in Johnston St, Collingwood.

It’s a lovely little room which also includes a massage table so I will also be able to assist you with guided meditations in comfort and style!

I have had an interesting time investigating furnishing options and I will be sure to share a photo of the space with you once we are all set up!

I have also been having fun sharing my readings with readers from other modalities (psychics, crystal healers, metaphysical store owners etc). I have found that these type of people really enjoy the type of reading I am able to offer and I really enjoy working with them! This may have led to a table at a certain festival but we’ll be keeping mum on that on for now.

I also want to share with you today two links to people I respect and admire as readers. If you are in the steamy tropics of north Queensland and are looking for a tarot reader,or palm reader then please give my friend Dancing Bear a visit. All her information can be found here via her website. Dancing bear has been a wonderful mentor to me throughout the past few months and I thank the powers every day that I she has come into my sphere of awareness.

And if you are in Canada or anywhere in the world and interested taort, reiki or journaling then please visit James Wells’ new Blog. Doesn’t he have good taste in wordpress layouts? *wink*

Well I have some journal writing of the pen and paper kind to do of my own so I will speak to you all again soon.

Bright regards

Janice Marie

Understand the obstructions you are putting in the way of love, freedom, and happiness and they will drop. Turn on the light of awareness and the darkness will disappear. Happiness is not something you acquire; love is not something you produce; love is not something you have; love is something that has you.

What deck to I use when?

I’m not what people would call a collector of Tarot decks but I do have a few decks I use on a regular basis.

I have my Victorian Romantic which is my current go-to deck. The illustrations are rich and they spark my intuition leading to  the most wonderful in-depth readings.  Of course this decks personality is often very blunt, it has a habit of almost hitting me over the head with what it wants me to say. The figures in these cards have become old friends to me, I know them well and I know they speak clearly when they arrive for a reading.

If I’m in the mood for a little frivolity I’ll pull out the Gummy Tarot. yes you hear me correctly, Gummy Tarot. Little gummy bears posed in traditional Rider-Waite-Smith images never fails to give short, concise, and slightly irreverent advice to all who ask a question of it.

When questions turn inwards I have begun to turn to my Medicine Woman Tarot. There is an innate spirituality and an affinity with the spiritual pathways of life which lets this deck sing to me.

The Bohemian Gothic Silver edition has just entered my life as well. I haven’t found a situation where it’s shadowed images are appropriate yet but I’m sure there will come a time when it’s talents come to the fore.

Who knows? The Bohemian Gothic may call out to me when it comes time to do a reading for you!

An equation reading

Reposted with permission of the querant.
I created this spread for my client as their question jumped the normal path of “and then and then and then” readings that I often get.

The spread I created is called the Equation spread because that was what it felt like as I laid it out.

Here is a link to the cards from the reading and the layout of the spread.

10. If no changes are made what will be the outcome?
11. Overall advice card

0. You right now – Three of Cups.
The cards show you as creative, multi-talented, comfortable with your self.
There is an air of casualness here. The figures in this card are at a moment of inaction and anticipation of the next step.

1. Your Strengths – Ace of Swords
You have a clear knowledge of what comes next, you are able to approach it with logic and patience just like the eagle who will hover and know when to dive and strike. Our lovely Ace sits on a precipice and even though the wind blows she has a calm assurance that she has gained the knowledge necessary to move on.

2. How to use them – The Fool
Have faith in your strengths. You have taken the time to gain this knowledge now use it! take the leap you know what the next logical step is.

3. Your weaknesses – Six of Pentacles
The lady here is stopping on her path for a posie she probably doesn’t really need. I get the feeling that while we know this card is about charity, in this case it applies you you being to generous with your time to small things. Passing fancies are diversions from your goal.

4. How they undermine you – The Magician.
Ah the magician here is single minded he has devoted years to his goal, I think in this case You are apt to convince yourself that these minor fancies are part of your goal and will help you get there but in reality they just consume your time.

5. What you need to add to your equation – The Emperor
You need to get yourself a little outward confidence and some bling! The Emperor here is relaxed in the fact that he built in and they came. He displays the confidence by being presented in his finery. I think the cards are saying you need to work on how you present yourself and your product.

6. What you need to remove – Knight of Cups
There is a sense of noble suffering in the card, the Knight pushes away temptations. I get the sense here that it isn’t temptations you need to remove but the noble suffering. The maidens represent missed opportunities because there is a bit of self deception about not being ready and opportunities being presented as being not quite right or not the market you want to focus on.

7. What is needed to make the changes stick? Eight of cups
The lady in this card has her back to us and looks to be crying, there is a small black dog behind her with his tail between his legs. I believe that the cards are trying to say you need to turn your back on the black dog emotion that constantly brings you down. There is a niggle here, it may be a confidence issue but whatever it is I feel you really need to focus on slapping it down hard whenever it rears it’s head.

8. Where can help be sought? Page of Pentacles
Oh what a well dressed young man we have here. I think there is someone who will help you who may seem a little flamboyant at first but when they look at you there is a shrewdness in the analysis of their eyes that you will find hard to miss. The clock suggests to me a timed aspect to your meetings with this person. the richness of this person reminds me of the message of the emperor I feel this person will be connected with your presentation issues.

9. What will be the outcome of committing to this path? King of Swords
There is a modicum of success, after all, it is good to be king. However you will reach a point where some cherished beliefs have been left behind in the drive for this success. It will not be an easy road but you have overcome your difficulties to get here. Maintain your integrity and look forward.

10. If no changes are made what will be the outcome? 7 of Wands
You will be fighting an uphill battle if you don’t make any changes. I see constant niggles, your conscience, other people, outside pressures.

11. Overall advice card – 5 of Pentacles
It won’t be easy, but have faith in yourself, hold onto those you are close too. There will be lean times, but hold onto the things that give your strength, your faith, integrity and your logic.

It’s a bit of a topsy turvy reading, I get the feeling that the next twelve months will be tough but you have a good base to work from. I see the multiple cups as a sign that you will have to control your emotions and really play to your strengths. I feel you need to set aside a few moments of your day for positive reinforcement and review of your goals. Make sure you are constantly moving towards your goal and not getting diverted. Making money is not a diversion though. Reject the starving artist mentality here (even if you are not an artist) work is work it puts food on the table. You can take on things that in your noble goals you don’t see as “you” as long as you maintain your integrity and they put bread on your table..
